Alpha lipoic acid is an exceptionally versatile nutrient. Being both water- and fat-soluble, this multifunctional compound is able to function in almost any part of the body. Free radicals are atoms, ions, or molecules with one or more unpaired electrons that bind to and destroy cellular compounds. Dietary antioxidants disarm free radicals through a number of different mechanisms.
